Intimate Wilderness

After several weeks of beautiful weather and high temperatures, we welcomed the rain and I couldn't be happier. The valley looks really green and the soil seems to be getting enough water. Hopefully it will stay like this for a few days and it will give me a chance to create some nice photographs as the fog keeps rolling down the mountains while creating a wonderful mood throughout the day.

This morning when I woke up, it was pouring. I hesitated about staying at home or driving up to the forest, but in the end, I took my camera and two lenses and went in search of some intimate detail shots. It was relaxing and very peaceful, as you'll see.

One of my goals for this year is to learn how to make videos. So I decided to give it a try and this is what I came up with. It's a short clip taken in the same location where I took the next set of photographs. Hope you enjoy it!

Found a treehouse in a beautiful forest

Whenever I have strong feelings of wanderlust I always try to explore and find new trails and back country roads that I've pinned in my maps. Last week, on one of those location scouting days, I went to check out a forest I hadn't been to before. The beginning of the trail seemed really promising so I decided to give it a try and I totally fell in love with it. Once inside the forest, it looked like I was in the middle of a rainforest (it was a wet and rainy morning) and it smelled so fresh and good. I couldn't stop looking up in awe, it was a really beautiful discovery.

Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to go for a proper walk because I had to go back to work, so I decided to head home and try another day. At night, I couldn't stop thinking about this wonderful location so I turned on my computer and cheked out the trails in order to have some places mapped out for my next trip to this place. After following several paths with Google Street View, I found something really cool, and I immediately knew where would I head to the next time.

So on Monday afternoon, I told all about my discovery to my brother and asked him if he wanted to tag along, to which he agreed. We met after lunch and made it on time to enjoy the walk before the sun went down. These are several photos of our little adventure.

Can you imagine waking up on top of three trees in a beautiful forest of pines and watching the sunrise over some of the highest mountains in the area? This is definitely one of my life goals!

From Mozambique to the Basque Country

They are Alaia and Adrian. They met a few years ago when they lived and worked in Mozambique and they just returned home to start a new beginning here. On Monday morning, I took the car and drove to familiar locations to photograph them. Despite of the freezing temperatures at the dam, we had a wonderful time and the session turned out to be really relaxed and natural. Later, when the sun was shining, we decided to head to the mountains. These rocky walls make a great background for portraits, so this place never disappoints. We are so lucky to have all these amazing places right outside our doors.

These are some of the shots from that morning. Hope you like them!

A beautiful evening at the beach

Dark sky, big waves, high tide and strong winds. It was a beautiful day at the beach.

A weekend in the Pyrenees

A couple of weekends ago, we loaded the van and drove all the way to the National Park of Ordesa, in the heart of the Pyrenees. We wanted to go hiking and make photographs and we loved every single moment of it. Here's the set of photographs, all shot with a 6D and the Sigma 35 Art.
